At Hankie Pankie Tables we love a theme for our table settings and with the festive season rapidly approaching we have the perfect excuse to talk about all things Tablescape.
Here we will give you some tips for inspirational Christmas and Thanksgiving table settings, then all you need to do is add the delicious feast to invoke all the senses.
Firstly, when it comes to planning your festive table setting do take the time to prepare; setting the scene has never been so involved and you can really go all out to create the wow factor for when your guests walk in to see your spectacular table laid in its entirety.
Choose your colour theme, whether it be classic green and red, autumnal shades or blue, white and silver ... or even monochrome, this should be your starting point. Then comes the important layering element; play with shades, prints, and textures in your choices of linens, china, and flowers.
A lot of you will own beautiful tables that do not require a tablecloth, but for a show stopper of a themed festive arrangement I would recommend a runner or a tablecloth to make the table feel really special and add texture. Make this your first layer working up to your placemats, linens and plates to your glassware staying on theme with your chosen palette.
A Festive table theme gives you the opportunity to incorporate seasonal greenery and branches or to highlight harvest colors. For florals, instead of one large arrangement, which can block your view of people across from you, opt for several vases of varying heights, each one holding shorts stems of holly, mistletoe and rosemary or amaryllis, known for its candy cane-like red and white flowers.
Thinking about candlelight, add that atmosphere to your room and set the mood with a mix of taper candles at various heights and little clusters of two or three tea lights in pretty glasses along the table bringing colour depth and consideration to your table setting.
The Festive season really is the perfect time to go all out, more is certainly more! Add finishing touches from family heirloom napkin rings to decorative pieces such as on theme coloured Nutcrackers, reindeers and swans - it’s all in the detail.
